Andrea Sisson, LMSW

Psychotherapist

Andrea Sisson is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist working with adults, adolescents, children, and groups at Rose Hill. Informed by her background as a filmmaker, interdisciplinary artist, and scholar. Andrea values creativity, imagination, and expression, and also attends to the body, movement, and play as pathways toward deeper self-understanding and vitality. Andrea holds an MFA from Bard College and an MSW from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College.

At the core of her practice is a curiosity about the unconscious, listening for what may be difficult to say, what lives beneath the surface, and what emerges in the therapeutic experience. Her work is attentive to how personal histories and traumas intersect with broader social and material conditions, including gender, sexuality, racism, class, and intergenerational experience. Andrea sees therapy as an enriching collaborative process in which experiences can be metabolized and transformed.
