Chris O’Kane, LMSW
Psychotherapist
Chris O’Kane is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist working with individuals, adults, and groups at Rose Hill Psychological Services. He received his MSW from Silberman School of Social Work. Prior to joining Rose Hill, Chris was an intern at Zucker Hillside Psychiatric Hospital. Chris has a PhD in social and political thought from the University of Sussex and was a tenured professor. He writes about how social institutions, social relationships, and social norms harm people.
Chris works with adults, adolescents, couples, and groups struggling with issues like anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, loss of meaning, and a myriad of challenging life transitions. His training in clinical social work and his background in critical theory shape his approach to psychotherapy. Chris works collaboratively with clients to understand how past and current desires, social processes, and relationships shape inhibiting patterns of thoughts, emotions, and actions, developing autonomy, self-understanding, connection, and purpose.
