Lotus Lien, LMSW
Psychotherapist
Lotus is a psychodynamic therapist, working with adults, adolescents, and children. Her approach is integrative, focusing on insight, emotion regulation, and the mind-body connection. She prioritizes building supportive, trusting relationships where difficult emotions, thoughts, and sensations can be expressed through words, play, art, and other forms of expression. She supports individuals and families in reflecting on their histories—perhaps shaped by beliefs, culture, trauma, politics, or other inheritances—and the patterns they may wish to shift. While hidden wounds may surface in this work, perhaps new ways of living can also emerge.
Lotus holds an MA in clinical psychology from Columbia University and an MSW from the Silberman School of Social Work. She also received a BFA from The Cooper Union School of Art, where she studied interdisciplinary art and design. Previously, she completed clinical training at an outpatient cancer clinic at Cornell Weill, New York Presbyterian and at LaGuardia Community College’s Neurodiversity Center. Lotus is also a heritage speaker of Mandarin, and frequently works with first and second-generation immigrants and their families.
