Maya Cohrssen-Hernández

Maya Cohrssen-Hernández is a psychodynamically-oriented therapist-in-training who works with adolescents and adults. She holds an MA in Psychology with a Clinical Focus from the International Psychoanalytic University in Berlin, where her thesis explored bilingualism as a key to understanding the unconscious in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and a BA in Psychology and Linguistics from Scripps College. Maya has worked extensively alongside migrant and refugee communities in both the U.S. and abroad, where she supported young people and families navigating trauma, displacement, and cultural transition. Fluent in English, Spanish, and German, she works to see to how language and culture shape emotional life, and welcomes patients from all linguistic and cultural backgrounds into the therapeutic space. She is drawn to helping individuals follow their own curiosity about their inner world, trusting that this exploration is often the beginning of meaningful change.
