Michelle Luong, LMSW

Psychotherapist

Michelle Luong is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist working with adults, adolescents, and children at Rose Hill. They received their MSW from the Silberman School of Social Work and their BFA in Painting from the Maryland institute College of Art. Before joining Rose Hill. Michelle worked as a psychotherapist at the Fifth Avenue Counseling Center and has an extensive background in education.

Michelle encourages patients to speak freely, attending closely to their subjective experiences and the ways intergenerational and systemic forces influence personal suffering. They listen for dream material, slips of the tongue, fears, and anxieties that reveal unconscious meanings, desires, and conflicts. Their work supports patients in recognizing repetitive patterns, unknotting their histories, and moving toward more expansive possibilities. Michelle prioritizes understanding individuals as whole people rather than focusing narrowly on diagnosis or symptoms. Michelle’s interdisciplinary art practice, spanning paint, sound, and poetry, engages themes of fragmentation, liminality, and loss rooted in diasporic experience. Their artistic practice deepens their attunement to symbolization, play, and the unsayable.
