Michelle Schimek, LMSW

Psychotherapist

Michelle Schimek is a psychodynamic psychotherapist who works with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, questions of identity, relationship difficulties, and substance use. She is interested in working with people who feel stuck in familiar patterns, struggle to make sense of their experiences, or find themselves caught between conflicting feelings and desires. Her work attends to the ways early experiences and relationships can shape how we understand ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world.

Michelle approaches therapy as a space for curiosity, reflection, and the exploration of experiences that may be difficult to put into words. Through careful listening and a collaborative therapeutic relationship, she hopes to help clients develop a deeper understanding of their inner lives, including the feelings, conflicts, and patterns that may be less immediately visible. She views therapy as an opportunity not only to alleviate suffering, but also to discover new ways of relating to oneself and others, allowing for greater freedom, self-acceptance, and possibility.

She earned a B.S. from Cornell University and a Master of Social Work from Columbia University.
