Sean Lynch, LCSW

Psychotherapist

Sean takes a pluralistic approach to psychodynamic psychotherapy. Creating a trusting, non-judgmental environment in which one feels safe enough to explore thoughts and feelings—to say whatever comes to mind—is a primary aim. He has worked with teens, adults, and older adults who have experienced suffering from conflicts in relationships, conflicts in sexuality and identity, trauma, social isolation, trouble with jobs and career, loneliness, emigration, and difficulties with eating and substance use. He recognizes that beginning or continuing therapy is not easy, especially when life already feels difficult, and so he is committed to figuring out what works (and what does not) for each person. With the understanding that current suffering is rooted in both the past and present, he believes psychotherapy can lead to long-lasting change and enriched well-being.

His writing and research interests include representations of mind in literature and psychology, the uncanny, digital presence, and literary impressionism. Educated in Germany and the U.S., Sean holds a Master of Arts in English Studies from Freie Universität Berlin and a Master of Social Work from New York University.
